Monroe Crumley, age 69, of Evansville, former Fountain County resident, died Saturday night, Jan. 6, at Evansville. Born May 15, 1892, near Newtown, he was a son of John and Alice Beaver Crumley. He was married to Bertha Goff, who preceded him in death. He was married to Ethel Rife, who survives. Mr. Crumley was a former farmer and school teacher in the Hillsboro area and operated a service station and restaurant at Rossville before moving to Evansville 20 years ago. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dwight of Buchanan, Mich.; a daughter, Mrs. Mona Durbin of San Francisco, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son and a sister. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. The Rev. Jack Eitelbuss officiated. Burial was in the Union Cemetery near Newtown.
